IXOS DIVO Speaker System
This 2.1 set-up is intended for more restricted living spaces. The compack speakers and tub-like subwoofer offer a sizeable increase in bass power and treble clarity over any built-in TV speakers. They can’t deliver the surround sound effect of a 5.1 or 7.1 system, and the soundstage
isn’t as spacious as the Cinebar 50′s but there’s enough power from the 48-watt speakers to fill a smallish room with sound. There’s only one proper phone stereo input and no HDMI or other digital input, but there’s 3.5mm socket too if you’re desperate.
The Divo is perhaps more successful as a glorified iPod dock than as a home theatre set-up. Tunes from any docked iPod sound big and ballsy and the Divo will change it too. The aforementioned 3.5mm jack allows easy access for other mp3 players or laptops.
- Love - Tight bass and clear stereo from a compact system. Handy iPod docking and charging.
- Hate - Lacks power compared to pricier set-up. Connectivity limited to one phono and one 3.5mm input
- We Say - If you want to increase your TV’s audio output on the cheap the Divo fits the bill, but don’t expect sonic miracles
