LG Cookie Fresh
After Samsung repositioned itself in the mobile handset market with its Star and Corby phones, it seems LG is trying to follow suit with its Cookie series. It has launched Cookie Fresh, another affordable touchscreen, to the series. Siblings Fresh and Pep have nothing in common besides their first names—neither in terms of looks or feel. Lots of things are different. It has three keys adorning the front when Pep had just one. LG has also experimented with colour, adding a bright hue to the edges.
The resistive touchscreen measures 3 inch but working on it required an effort. Typing using the on-screen keypad wasn’t smooth, even with its onscreen QWERTY keypad. The homescreen is divided into three: first for widgets, second for favourite contacts and third for Live Square for instantly staying connected. The focus remains social networking; it packs in Facebook, twitter, myspace, Orkut, Picasa and Flickr. It also boasts a 2MP camera, MP3 player and FM radio with a built-in antenna. The antenna certainly saves you the trouble of connecting the headsets to turn on the radio, but the reception wasn’t disturbance-free. The most disappointing was the Fresh’s slow interface, which killed the whole experience.
