Liyama Prolite E2710HDS
Consumer buying a flat-panel at the £250-£280-mark have two options:you can buy a high –quality but small (circa-21.5in) screen,or an expansive no-frills panel such as this 27in liyama prolite E2710HDS.
This screen is very palin:there are no plastic mouldings ,no fancy colour schemes and no flashing lights here.It isn’t unattractive, however, and will blend in just as well as any large-screen display can.The stand is a rigid model; pay a little more for the 27in B2712HDS if you need to adjust height.
Time liyama’s port line –up includes DVI,HDMI and D-Sub connectors. You also get bearable built –in speakers and ,more commendably,a USB hub with two ports. The control panel is initially confusing. Not all of the many button are clearly labeled. Once you find what you need ,altering settings requires only a two-button approach. We couldn’t find a dedicated button for changing the colour mode, however.
The rating of 400cd/m2 reveals how bright this screen can be ;it ‘ll probably need to be toned down if eyestrain is to be avoided.it’s good to have a dedicated Eco mode button, and activitng this makes a clear difference to the image quality.
The screen resolution is a full –HD 1920X1080 pixels. The specified contrast ration of 1,000 :1 can be stretched to 20,000:1 using the ACR function ,although we found it wasn’t quite as reactive to image change aw we would have liked- on a screen this large ,even small defects become quite significant.
Response rates in standard mode are reasonable for gaming.Viewing angles are adequate; it certainly doesn’t have the worst we’ve seen. The colour palette won’t win any awards, but the tones are reasonably accurate .There isn’t a huge amount of variation at the extremes of the colour schemes ,and the image isn’t totally consistent.
For most users ,a 27in screeb will be overkill for everyday use ,but films and games looked very reasonable from a distance.
Verdict
As you might expect of a screen this size and at this price, the liyama Prolite E2710HDS isn’t outstanding in any area. However,it doesn’t conspicuously fail either, and that’s something of a triumph. The best low-budget big –screen monitor we’ve seen yet.the liyama works especially well for games and movie watching.
