Nikon D3100 – Ease of Use
The Nikon D3100 is small for a DSLR. but with the 18-55mm zoom attached it has a more rugged demeanour. It packs 14.2 megapixels and full-HD video at up to 24fps – although it can only be accessed when in Live View mode.
The supplied kit lens maintains good edge-to-edge sharpness, even if the results are slightly soft overall, and noise only becomes noticeable at ISO 12.800. With an Enhanced Guide mode to explain more complex features, the D3100 is a good choice for ambitious amateurs.
LOVE Fast and responsive, with full-HD video and a useful guide mode
HATE Too small to grip comfortably. Video is awkward to access
