PIONEER KODO XW-NAV1
Many Blu-ray decks come with iPod docks, but we’ve yet to see an ‘Pod dock with a Blu-ray player. Pioneer’s bedroom and kitchen-friendly XW-NAV1 comes close, featuring a DVD drive and an HDMI output capable of piping 1080p upscaled pictures to your secondary TV. Audio-wise it boasts Dolby Digital decoding with Virtual Surround and two 10W speakers. And with terminals for iPod and USES devices it can playback most common multimedia files Including MP3, DivX, WMA and JPEG files. Another nice touch is the ability to rip from CD to USB, although when it comes to watching video on an iPod, we’d rather go without than use the mandatory ropey, old composite video connection that comes as standard on all iPod docks.
VERDICT : Versatile and Apple-friendly
