Sony’s PS3 had a comparatively quiet time of it at E3, the games expo that also saw the lunch of Nintendo’s  3DS and Microsoft Xbox 360 and Kinect.

Its motion controller , the PlayStation Move, officially lands in the UK on September 15, but we already knew about that. move offers a more impressive gaming experience than the Wii and is less likely to include self-consciousness than Microsoft’s body-twisting Kinect. Pricing is keen too, with Amazon selling a starter pack of an Eye camera and one Move Controller for £50. The Navigation controller – Sony’s answer to the Wii Nunchuck adds another £25 to that, however.

PlayStation 3 Move BundleYou can get your PS3 3D-gaming-ready by installing the free software upgrade from the PayStation Network. A snippets of Killzone 3, due for release in February 2011, captivated a bespectacled E3 crowd, while titles including MotorStorm Apocalypse, Crysis 2 and Grand Turismo 5 are also set to get the 3D treatment.

Sony is also welcoming Valve’s online gaming portal Steamworks to the PlayStation Network. this will provide PSN members with automatic game and firmware updates, downloadable content, communuty features and the ability to save files to Steam Cloud. it also means the acclaimed Portal 2 is coming to PS3. A killer app if ever there was one.

Finally, PNS Plus is a paid-for version of Sony’s online service, offering demos and other content in return for your money. the free one will remain however.
