What to Look For in an Android Phone

Android Operating System

  1. Lots of RAM – All that multi-tasking will not be possible otherwise. Go for devices with 256MB RAM for best result.
  2. Good TouchScreen – A number of Android devices (such as the Motorola Milestone and LG GW 620) came with physical keypads, but for the most part, this is a touch-driven interface. So the size and quality of the display counts. We would recommended nothing less than a 3.2-inch capacitive display.
  3. On Board Storage – Although the latest update of Android allows users to save apps on expansion cards, most versions of Android allow installation of apps only on onboard memory, so make sure there are plenty of megabytes to go around.
  4. Interface – Almost all manufactures place their own interface on Android. They may appear more spectacular than Android’s conventional plain looks, but they drain the battery and also prevent quick update to the OS itself.
  5. Battery Life – Android is an operating system that thrives on Internet connectivity and multi-tasking. Combine that with the fact that it generally comes with relatively large display and you will realize that you need as much battery juice as possible to get the most out of your device
  6. Operating System Version – There are a number of versions of Androids going around. We would recommend opting for the latest one (v 2.2) as it would come with the most features.
